How to Create A Solar Panel

Saving Energy Resources

Ever one is talking about saving and saving energy resources resulting into the attention drawn to solar energy and hence to solar panels. It’s time that we should start exploring recyclable options for energy consumptions. One of the best among the unexplored options is utilization of solar energy. Solar panels are used to utilize solar energy as an energy resource. The solar panels use solar photovoltaic cells for the conversion of photons to unstable energy. The energy that is provided by the solar panels is not only clean but is renewable as well. Creating solar panel for using solar energy is possible. However, the same is possible at a domestic level only. As the amount of energy consumption would determine the array of solar panel. Secondly, as the consumption for the commercial purposes would be way more than that of the domestic use, the process of creating solar panel complicates itself.

In Your Own Kitchen

You could create solar panel in your own kitchen. Here are some guidelines to create solar panels in your own kitchen. The material required for the same would include – Copper flashing sheet, that is easily available; alligator clip – 2 clip leads; micro ammeter that should be sensitive to reading current ranging from 10 to 50; electric stove; a plastic bottle that could be cut from the mid to have a wide bottle mouth; normal table salt; regular tap water; sand paper; and a metal shear.

Oxidation Pattern

Ensure that you have all the above listed material ready with you before you start creating solar panel for your kitchen. The copper plate needs to be cut in size accordance with your kitchen burner. The sheet needs to be cleaned so that any deposit of sulphide is removed. No grease or oil should be there on the copper sheet. Put that copper sheet on your burner and switch it on to supply the maximum heat possible. After a while you would see that beautiful patterns would start to emerge on the copper sheet. These would have colors like - purple, red and orange. This oxidation pattern would cover the copper sheet. Continue to heat it till the time the colored oxidation pattern vanishes into the copper sheet becomes black. This would happen because of the coat of cupric oxide. Just let the copper plate cool down slowly. It would shrink during the cooling process, and so would the cupric oxide. Cupric oxide would flake off the sheet. The flakes that are left on the copper sheet could be removed gently. Now we are ready to assemble to create solar panel for the kitchen. Cut the plastic bottle and another copper sheet of exactly the size of the previous one. Place both the copper plates face to face at the inner vertical surface of the plastic bottle. Alligator clips need to be attached to both the copper plates. The alligator clip from the new copper plate needs to go to the meter by the positive terminal. The cupric oxide coated would be attached to the negative terminal by the alligator clip. Add salt dissolved in tap water in the bottle with out wetting the clips. However, the water should partially cover the copper plates. The meter would read about 6 micro amps. Put it in the sun you would see the needle go up to 33 or even in some cases up to 50 micro amps.

Summary

This is just a small version of creating solar panel could be called as a solar cell instead. As mentioned the solar panels could be created depending upon the out put required. The scale of the solar cell described to be increased to create energy enough to power your house.
